Meet our precious "herd" of NPGA registered Pygmy goats!
We raised Pygmy goats for a couple years before our Nigerian Dwarf goats. The main reason for switching to the Nigerians was ease of kidding. So, we parted with the majority of the herd (about 10 goats). Rosie, Daisy, and Fudgie are the last of our Pygmies. They will always have a special place on our "farm."
We had five beautiful babies born March - April 2009. Three caramel kids, (one doe and two bucks) a black agouti buck, and a dark grey agouti doe with adorable WATTLES! (Can you tell I just love wattles?! ;) All of these babies have been reserved by wonderful families.
Rosie is just as her registered name implies, "My Luv." RoseLuv was our very first pygmy goat, a bottle-baby. She is a really good girl but loves to butt people on their hands. :) It never hurts because she is only knee-high. Rosie loves her withers to be scratched and goes crazy when you get the right spot! Whenever we have visitors, she will steal things (keys, etc. . .) from your pockets and run off with them! :) She is my baby (no matter how bratty she is at times) and will always have a special place with our family.
I wasn't too sure about breeding Rosie again (she had a terrible kidding in 2007 with a big, single buck) but we decided to take her to visit Revelation. Well, the two of them "fell in love" instantly! It was so, so cute! They shared dinner, Rose would eat some grain then back away and Rev would eat some, it was very sweet! So, Rosie is bred and due 3/20/09 - I am going to hope for at least twins and a safe delivery!
Update!! Rosie kidded 3/23/09 with triplets!! An easy, unassisted delivery!! Sadly, one doe was stillborn but the other two are doing marvelously. :) Beautiful babies. The buck (to be wethered) is black agouti and the doe is brown-tipped caramel. Her daughter is now reserved, but her son, Wilbur is still in need of a loving new home.

Daisy was the second goat we ever purchased. A bottle-baby at two weeks of age. She is my brother's pet. We put Daisy in her first show on October 8, 2006 at CPGA Oktoberfest, she placed fourth in a class of 12 really nice does, under Marcia Read, and she was a stinker in that show ring!! We are very proud of her, despite her naughty attitude!
Daisy proved to be an incredibly easy kidder the first time she was bred. She kidded very quickly & unassisted in December 2006 at 21 months of age. Daisy has kidded two more times since then and all have been easy and unassisted! We just love our Daisy-Girl! She is a wonderful pet, awesome kidder, and makes the most delicious, sweet milk!!
Update: Daisy kidded 4/10/09 with buck/doe twins! She produces an abundance of milk and I can't wait to start milking her when her kids are old enough. Daisy's doe and wether are available for adoption to a wonderful home!

Fudgie is a very friendly, sweet doe. She had a pretty rough start in life. . . . her dam didn't have enough milk for triplets so we pulled Fudge for bottle-feeding. She didn't care for the bottle so much at first, until we started giving her Rosie's milk. She loved that! When we took her for disbudding at the vet, they did a terrible job!! :( Poor Fudgie got a terrible infection. We'll never be going to the vet again for disbudding. . . . Anyways, she's doing great now and is a treasured part of our little "herd." :D
You may wonder why we chose such an interesting name for this doe. . . . . Fudgie comes from a long line of brown agouti goats on her dam's side, all being named something to do with "fudge." Her sire's name is Montsho Amir (the Black Prince) - so that's how we came up with Fudge-A-Licious Amira. I guess you could say she is a "fudge princess." ;)
Update: Fudgie kidded for the first time in late-March. She had buck/doe light caramel twins! Despite our best efforts, we sadly lost her doe for unknown reasons. Her buck is thriving and growing very well! Fudgie and her son will be moving to a wonderful new home towards the end of May.

Fudgie is not very photogenic! She is so friendly that every time I try to take that perfect picture she has to come and see what I'm up to! ;)

This handsome little buck was used to breed our does for spring 2009 kids. He is calm and gentle-natured with terrific conformation and pretty medium caramel coloring. Thanks to Courtney & Brooke for purchasing this awesome buck and letting us use him! :)
Rev's kids have arrived and are so very cute and correct!! We have three wethers and two does sired by him - they are available for adoption to the right homes! :)
